The Solar Fresh Mission is to strengthen the local food community through the use of indigenous farming practices. I strive to be a steward of the environment and to delight customers with delicious and nutrient dense products.
The Vision
The vision for this three acres is to create a system with abundant and diverse harvests that requires few outside inputs. Our vision for the future is of a food system where everyone has access to healthy food and access to land for a garden or farm.
Indigenous Farming Practices
Some of my farming practices include creating beneficial insect habitat for pest control, mulching and cover cropping to reduce weeds and conserve water, use of biodynamic preparations, adding perennial plantings to reduce soil disturbance and leave living roots in the soil, crop rotation and diversity, companion planting for vitality and pest control, use of non-gmo, heirloom and organic seeds, use of on-farm produced chicken manure, and promoting biodiversity.
I use the soil health principles as a framework to create a living and balanced ecosystem underfoot.
Where to find Solar Fresh Products
Currently you can find my produce at the roadside stand at the farm on the weekends and select week days. You can also contact me directly for a special order.
After 6 years, I discontinued the CSA program in 2021. Thank you for being part of the farm during that time.
